A principle that Thokozani Mkhwanazi, the founder of Nuwave Creations lives by, is to avoid all negativity at all costs. He describes negativity as the father of misery.
This 24-year old from Volsksrust (Mpumalanga) is best known by his stage name JSK XXVI II. He is an innovative music artist and a producer who spends most of his time creating music and appreciating nature and people.
The young, self-taught graphic designer and video editor said that music has always been part of his life. Since the days of t.d.k cassettes, he’d listen to everything from Ladysmith Black Mambazo to Tupac and Hugh Masekela.
“When I started writing I would write lyrics of my favourite songs and my favourite artist was Tupac Shakur. I started rapping in 2008 and in 2009 I went into music production where I familiarised myself with music production” JSK said.

Albeit he is accustomed to working alone (musically) JSK added that he also collaborates with other artists on various projects. “On visuals I’m currently working with a camera man who is also a video editor, Mbuso “Wizphix” from Newcastle and Tshediso “King Blu” from Vaal”.
When JSK started his musical journey the only people who would listen to his music were his High School audience. However, as he progressed, his fan base grew and he says it continues to grow. “The music is being well received at an overwhelming rate and as an experimental artist I am never afraid of trying something new while maintaining my unique sound”
Apart from keeping his audience entertained, through music, another one of JSK’s primary goals is to send out a message of positivity to everyone who listens to it. He believes that his music carries out a message of hope. And his goal is that by the end of each song, someone should say they have learned something.
JSK also shared with us that his long term goal is a Grammy nomination, and since watching Ladysmith Black Mambazo pick up that golden horn, he has been motivated immensely.
One of the biggest challenges for any independent artist is financing their artistry. They always have to do music and something else on the side in order to generate capital. However, JSK has had more success than challenges. This includes two YFM chart topping singles, as well as being one of the Spot A Legend Competition winners who went on tour in Tanzania, in 2015. Another great highlight, for this artist, is being on the cover of the 2017 Hype Magazine Freshman Edition, at the beginning of the year.
Although he does not have an album out yet, JSK says that he is working towards releasing his debut album soon. “There are a few big brands I’m currently working with, but I cannot disclose any information at this point”, he added. The rapper boasts four mixtapes to his name: the latest is entitled Extragalactic (PRxFND Sessions).
