Mirror art for home, events and office decor

Back in the day, mirrors were used just as a tool for checking one’s reflection. However, a former Law student, Faith Matodzi has made them a part of home decoration.

As a result of this, mirrors now accentuate the interior designs of most houses. They are placed in foyers and in selected areas throughout the house and this recent trading tradition is also being used at events such as weddings, to adorn and personalize the decor.

Faith Matodzi is the founder of The Mirror Portion, which originated from her uncle’s business, The Matodzi Elegant Art Studio. The Mirror Portion was established in February 2017, although the rest of the business has been around for years.

“Mirrors are simply the most elegant, useful, and under-appreciated decorating tool that people use without thinking about their beauty or significance.”

The Mirror Portion business specializes in custom made furniture, like mirror lamps, dressing tables, bedside tables, mirror place mats, cake stands, pillar stands, centerpieces and vanity mirrors (mirrors with lights).

“When trying to decide whether to hang a mirror or a piece of art, the choice should always come down to the one that is most aesthetically appealing. But in many cases a mirror just works better. With a beautiful frame and decorative details, it is art” Faith said. And she was very excited by the fact that her business has expanded, thus making it possible for bulk orders – for office decorations and resellers alike.

Although the expansion is viewed in a positive light, business has been slow due to supplier delays. This has caused tension between Faith and her clients, but she further stated that she is still improving her delivering processes, in order to ensure efficiency and quality while keeping her clients happy. With growth, in the entrepreneurial world, comes many obstacles.
