With April being the month where we celebrate freedom in South Africa, KZN is bringing you an unique expression of how we, the youth interpret freedom through the spoken word.

“Poet in a Suit” is a creative arts show, that takes place every three months, and provides a platform for young writers, artists, to share their version of the truth, with the province. This month’s leg of the show is themed Ukuphuma Kwelanga (the sun is up and its time for you to try again). Its a reminder to young people that freedom comes with responsibility, and its your place as the current and future generation, to build a positive foundation, that will be sustainable for centuries to come, reach out for your dreams,without limitations. Ilanga liphumile. Do something about your now, to change your tomorrow, Vuka!!

“The finest poets and musicians will be taking to the stage and will leave you asking for more, that is the assurance I am giving you”, Mxolisi Mtshali – founder of the event. Mtshali is a seasoned poet, who has performed on National and International stages, and shared the stage with artists, such as “The Soil”.

Some of the artists that will be featured on this leg of the show, include Xoli Zion Vilakazi, the leading IsiZulu female poet,in the province, Sandile Mnikathi, Mpho Ngcobo, Thandaye Mzila, Page and Sthembile Gwala. Most of these poets have performed at the annual Poetry Africa International Show and they are keen to present their art to the public.

The musicians that will be performing on the night are Paras, an artist that is making waves in the music industry. He will be bringing his ubuntu soul sound to the show, and International performer, actress, musician, all round artist Phumzile Zondo, a lady whose voice, is unforgettable.

The event will take place at Blue waters hotel, 28 April, 19:00. tickets are R150 at the door.
