Capturing Mzansi’s hard pressing events

A talented group of sixteen poets have joined forces to put together a masterpiece of a project, in the form of a book, which is called ‘Uncensored Poets’.

The book touches across a wide variety of social, political and economic issues that have a direct impact on every South African citizen.

Its release date is on the 1st of May 2017 and the unit price of this book is R100. For now the book won’t be available in any book stores, but the marketing team of this project is busy promoting and selling it directly.

The mastermind behind this great work is Tshegofatso Oshyn Gaebuelwe. Tshego was born and bred in the dusty streets of Ivory Park, in Midrand. She is 19 years old and studying towards a Social Work degree at UWC. In 2015 she got published under Diaspora Publishers with the poetry book titled ‘Oshyn of Blessings’.

“I started the poetry project on the 29th of December 2016, where I made a Facebook post and also sent out a tweet looking for people who were interested to be part of the project”, she says. The response to that tweet was phenomenal and as they always say, the rest is history!!

The other 15 contributors to the book come from all corners of the country. Four poets are based in Limpopo. Eight of them are based in Gauteng. One poet is based in North West while two are from KwaZulu-Natal and one from Mpumalanga.

Judging by the quality of this project, we are certain that people will enjoy reading the book and fall in love even more with words. It is so well crafted and put together. Another special point to mention about Uncensored Poets ’16 is the fact that it gave birth to a publishing company called Oshyn Publications which will be focusing precisely on themed South African poetry.

This is a YouTube channel link where most Uncensored Poets ’16 updates and other poetry projects will be posted.
